Previously, on February 10, the 1st Eastern District Military Court sentenced 16-year-old Nikita Uvarov to 5 years in prison on charges of «training for terrorist activities». The case was fabricated by law enforcement, when Nikita and his friends were detained after posting leaflets criticizing the state and supporting political prisoners.
Two other defendants, who initially confessed, received suspended sentences.
The defense lawyers, the defendants themselves and their representatives filed appeals, disagreeing with the verdict.
The prosecutor’s office also appealed, but not with a request to acquit the young anarchists, but with a demand to increase Nikita’s sentence to 9 years in prison.
The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. (CET +2) on May 16; the case will be heard by the Military Court of Appeal in Vlasikha (Moscow region). It is not yet known how exactly the defendants will be able participate in the hearing.
