The Kansk teenagers case (The Minecraft case)
In the summer of 2020, in the Siberian city of Kansk, several teenagers were detained by the FSB for sticking posters criticizing the state and in support of political prisoners on the building of the security service. As a result, a criminal case was opened against three 14-year-old schoolchildren under a «terrorist» article. On February 10, 2022, one of them, Nikita Uvarov, was sentenced to 5 years in prison. The other two teenagers received suspended sentences.

On February 10, the 1st Eastern District Military Court sentenced 16-year-old Nikita Uvarov to 5 years in prison on charges of «training in terrorism». The case was fabricated by Russian law enforcement after Nikita and his friends were detained for posting leaflets criticizing the state and supporting political prisoners. The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. (CET +2) on May 16; the case will be heard by the Military Court of Appeal in Vlasikha (Moscow region). It is not yet known how exactly the defendants will be able participate in the hearing.

The military judges found 16-year-old Nikita Uvarov guilty of «training for terrorist activities» (Article 205.3 of the RF Criminal Code), as well as of manufacturing and possessing explosives (Articles 223.1 and 222.1 of the RF Criminal Code) and sentenced him to five years in prison with a fine of 30,000 rubles (roughly 400 EUR). Nikita was taken into custody in the courtroom.
